Grow Block 101: The Foam Stuff Around Your Succulents

It’s Called A Grow Block

And yes, we put it there on purpose!

You may receive a succulent and notice there’s a little more than just dirt in that soil! The green, foamy looking substance is called a grow block! It’s made of stone wool, the same stuff that nestles your succulents in place during transit.

The purpose of grow block is to get as many nutrients as possible to your growing plant babies! As an extra bonus, it encourages root growth. Plus, it’s all natural and biodegradable, which means when it comes time to repot, you can transplant the whole grow block into the new soil and it will keep on thriving!

*Do not try to remove the grow block, as this will cause the roots to rip off with the grow block.
